Lea is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has worked in child protection and as a school and district social worker and administrator in Colorado and California. As a district administrator, Lea oversaw mental health and social emotional services, including psychological safety and crisis response. She facilitated student and family engagement programs and community collaboration efforts, and revised district attendance interventions and processes which contributed to a district-wide decrease in truancy cases and increase in daily attendance rates. Most recently, Lea was the School Outreach Consultant for the Colorado School Safety Resource Center. In this role, she was the staff authority and subject matter expert on issues related to the psychological safety of students for the Colorado Department of Public Safety. Lea served as a Commissioner on the State Suicide Prevention Commission and as co-chair of the Commission’s Youth Initiatives Work Group. Currently, Lea supports different K-12 entities through training and consultation on best-practices for mental health and wellbeing in the school setting and continues to be part of multiple workgroups and multi-agency collaboration efforts. Lea is passionate about student and community voice, interagency collaboration, her family, and all things coffee.
