Vanecia Kerr is the Regional Executive Director of College Track Colorado. College Track is a national nonprofit organization that equips students confronting systemic barriers to earn a bachelor’s degree in pursuit of a life of opportunity, choice, and power. Prior to joining College Track in 2016, Vanecia served as the Managing Director of City Year Denver where she was responsible for overseeing marketing, communications and development across the region.
Before entering the nonprofit sector in 2011, Vanecia spent over 20 years in corporate management. Her experience includes serving as the Regional Director of Community Affairs and Corporate Citizenship for TIAA-CREF, where she was responsible for developing and overseeing the strategy and implementation of the community outreach activities for over 20 offices. Vanecia’s tenure at TIAA-CREF spanned nearly 18 years, holding several leadership positions, including relationship management with top tier clients with assets ranging from $200M to $800M.
Vanecia received her BA in Political Science from Hampton University (VA) and a Masters in Public Administration from Baruch College (CUNY). She has also received several certificates in Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Social Responsibility from Boston College. She is the recipient of numerous certificates and honors throughout her career including being recognized as one of the Top 25 Most Powerful Women by the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Girl Scouts Denver Metro Women of Distinction.
In terms of civic engagement, Vanecia has a number of outstanding accomplishments. She is the founder of several organizations and has served on numerous boards. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for GlobalMinded, and the Hope Communities. Additionally, she was appointed by Governor John Hickenlooper to serve on the Colorado Commission on Higher Education in 2014. She is a highly experienced public speaker credited with over 250 speaking engagements with audience sizes ranging from 20 to 2000; this includes serving as a keynote speaker, expert panelist and facilitator for various local and national organizations including the Clinton Global Initiative and Boston College’s Center for Corporate Citizenship.
Vanecia is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (a public service sorority) and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. In her spare time she likes to volunteer, serve in her local church, watch movies and enjoy the many activities that Colorado has to offer with her husband and 18 year-old son.
