Jesse is a high school student (’20) at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD attending Washington University in St. Louis this fall. Two years ago, he and a group of his peers founded an environmental sustainability organization with a mission to cultivate a culture of environmental sustainability within his school’s campus as well as the surrounding community (McDonogh Goes Green). McDonogh Goes Green has worked on various projects ranging from creating a new green space on campus to organizing stream and park clean-ups. Additionally, McDonogh Goes Green was responsible for educational information sessions, climate change activism, and promoting sustainability awareness on campus. Currently, the group is working with the school’s administration to implement their own “Green New Deal” with an agreement to achieve five key aspects of environmental sustainability for McDonogh School by the year 2030 (the Earth’s point of no return).
