I have served as division director of DRL since April 2015. Prior to that, I was a program officer in DRL (August 2013-April 2015).
My academic background is in cognitive science–I have degrees in Psychology and Computer Science–and I have conducted research on thinking and learning by adults and children, involving experimentation and computational modeling. Some of this research that is particularly relevant to my work at NSF has been on concept learning, memory, scientific and informal reasoning, metacognition, and math anxiety. Other relevant interests include neuroscience, data science, and applications of technology to STEM education.
