Karl Wirth is a Co-Director of the Keck Geology Consortium, a collaboration of colleges that endeavors to diversify the science, technology, and mathematics workforce through mentored undergraduate research. As an Associate Professor of Geology (recently retired) at Macalester College, his research focuses on metacognition, motivation, and undergraduate research experiences. He also currently holds an appointment in the Research Focus Area of Self-Directed Learning in the Faculty of Education at North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
