Born and Raised in Atlanta, GA Jorden Favors is a current First Generation, Low income student at Pomona College of The Claremont Colleges in Claremont, California. She is a senior Gender and Women’s Studies major where her current work is in redefining the “Black Wombynhood” experience, specifically grounded in the telling of one’s own narrative as well as emphasizing resistance movements and acts of deviance as self perseverance and self autonomy methods used by Black women. She hopes to use her senior thesis as the first platform to disseminate this research and illuminate how these acts of deviance and resistance shape the relationship between Black women and higher education institutions. .Jorden has served as an executive board member of Pomona College’s Black student union, as a Senate (student government) voting member where she was the 2017-2018 North Campus Representative and the 2018-2019 Vice President of Campus Events! Currently she is entering her third year as a Gender and Women’s Studies liaison. After she graduate from Pomona College in May 2020 she hopes to start working in higher education policy in hope shape an equitable educational system, and redefine how we (American society) thinks about equity and quality in education.
