Not so long ago, I was one of those statistics – one of millions of under-employed visually impaired individuals. I spent most of my working life working in call centers – not because I enjoyed it, but it was what I could get at the time and location. I moved to Denver, Colorado in October of 2015. In 2017, I was able to get connected with the Blind Institute of Technology through their 1st ever BIT Academy Salesforce Admin Certification Class.

While Salesforce wasn’t my passion, digital accessibility was. I contracted with them for a time doing accessibility testing and contracted through them on a short-term contract with a telecommunications giant. In September 2018, I started working for Aetna as a contractor through B.I.T. In July of 2019, Aetna – now part of CVS Health, brought me on full-time. I am now the Senior Accessibility Quality Engineering Lead for the Aetna Health portfolio earning a very comfortable 6-figure income for the first time in my life!!!
