John (Jawn) Segovia is a first-year doctoral student in the Developmental Education program at Texas State University where he specializes in learning support in higher education. Jawn is an instructional assistant with Texas State’s student success course (EDP 1350-Effective Learning) for undergraduates. His research includes learning frameworks, student motivation, and learning support programs. Jawn has served in non-profit programs: Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), AmeriCorps City Year-San Antonio, TRiO Upward Bound and TRiO Student Support Services. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Developmental Education with a specialization in Learning Support, is a current member of the National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA) and was awarded the Texas State Doctoral Merit Fellowship 2019.
