Gerald Solomon has served as the Executive Director of the Samueli Foundation since 2008, overseeing the family’s global philanthropic activities. The Foundation was formed when Henry Samueli took Broadcom public, and since his hire has provided grants in excess of $510 Mil.

The Foundation’s focus is on STEM Education, Youth Development, Integrative Health, and Jewish Leadership. Mr. Solomon has demonstrated an acute ability to be innovative and collaborative, building national and global networks impacting 100s of thousands of children and young adults. His STEM Ecosystem Initiative alone supports 89 communities across the globe bringing community stakeholders together to reinvent how students learn, how systems educate, and how communities thrive through a STEM competent workforce.

His current initiative is connecting “play and passion with purpose”…integrating esports and gaming with a scholastic platform approved by State of California, especially focused on underserved and disenfranchised youth, through a program called the North America Scholastic Esports Federation (NASEF). In 18 short months, NASEF is now in 46 states and three countries with nearly 10,000 students connecting esports play with learning and workforce skill development.

Mr. Solomon also serves on the boards of the Consortium of Florida Ed Foundations, the Calif Dept of Ed Foundation, the Schools of Engineering at UCLA and UCI, the Teacher Advisory Council at the National Research Council within the National Academies, and Southern California Grantmakers Assoc. to name a few.
